Howdy. We've moved from Cayce, but St. Elizabeth of South Rose Hill or Lizette de Waccamaw de Sud just don't do it for me.

Palm Crosses--Instructions for Same

Izzy, who plans ahead, looked at these directions before Mass this AM and selected his slender palm accordingly.

If you got an extra wide palm frond, just split it in half before starting. A folded-in-half frond will also work, but the center square gets a bit snug.

Easy and very nice looking.

Directions here, courtesy of the Episcopalians.

Now, off to see the Baptists...

The question really is, how do you do that without breaking the frond altogether! Also, just as a fun fact, in Slavic countries they use willow branches and here in Europe (obviously not all over, but in my region) they use rameaux instead because palms aren't available. They claim (at least here, because I don't think it works for willows) that they are green year round and therefore qualify in lieu of palms. Crazy, huh? Have a good one and thanks for the good reading!

The frond needs to be fairly fresh, but I found a few left-vers (unblessed) at The Center yesterday evening that I was still able to fold up into crosses.

I heard that pussy willows were used in Europe. The fronds we used this weekend were not green throughout like the ones in the photos--ours were more yellow with green borders. They dry to a nice cream color--a lot like the color of cornhusk dolls.
