I love that first one -- is that a carved pumpkin? What a fascinating tradition! I don't think I ever saw a pumpkin in India.

Oh, the last time I was at the Melkite place, the homily was a rant on the evils of Halloween.

Yes, it's a carved pumpkin. Took me a couple of hours with good tools and a decent pattern. I own several teeny, tiny, little mini-saws and scrapers and hole-pokers. It's lots of fun!
