I looked up one evening a couple of weeks ago and asked Izzy: "Do you know how they're going to make the decision to close schools if we have an influenza pandemic?"
"No," he sez.
"I do," I said and went right back to typing.

Howdy. We've moved from Cayce, but St. Elizabeth of South Rose Hill or Lizette de Waccamaw de Sud just don't do it for me.

Good for you, Lizzy!
How? When you see the students get sick from the back of the bus to the other end.
If I was the bus driver I would get off ASAP!
I should mention that, like anything in government that involves two huge agencies collaborating, we've since met and made major changes to the plan.
Surprisingly enough, I think the changes will be for the better. It includes a much longer planning period, better epidemiologic intelligence, more involved partners, etc.
I'm also quite sure that there are currently only two people on the planet who completely understand what wil need to happen to close schools in SC if the pandemic arrives. Until we actually get to adopt the plan, let's hope (1) that the pandemic doesn't arrive, or, failing that (2) that at least one of us stays healthy.
