As the financial apocalypse gets ever closer, it's time to fess up to some ignorance (but I'm looking for others like myself.)
Am I the only person who didn't know until a month or so ago that Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Reserve were NOT parts of the US government?

well I knew 1 of the 3 was not in any way, but as I understand it 2 if not all got a charter form the government so it is interesting to say that they are not part of the govt. Then again PAC's are not part of the gov't they just throw a lot of money to the people who make decisions in the gov't.
